ABC’s mission requires communicating the importance of the orthotic, prosthetic and pedorthic standards to consumers and the general public. A key component of this effort is fulfilled by the two public members of the Board of Directors. The current public members of the board are Tom Coakley and Roy Davis, III, Ph.D. ABC’s public members are full voting members of the Board of Directors, tasked with representing the interest of consumers, patients and other public groups having an interest in ABC affairs. Public members provide guidance and direction to management staff and play a fundamental role in outreach to groups such as the Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). The public member’s role as public representatives includes speaking engagements at orthotic and prosthetic events, participation in amputee educational conferences and day-to-day communication with the general public. Individuals are encouraged to contact the public members with questions about our O&P outreach at publicmember@abcop.org.
