ABC accreditation standards create a baseline for minimal expectations of the physical environment and organizational function of O&P patient care locations. Understanding the accreditation standards is the first step to compliance, as accreditation decisions are based on the degree of conformity with the standards. Standards are grouped into eight categories: Administrative (AD), Patient Records (PR), Human Resources (HR), Patient Care and Management (PC), Product Safety (PS), Performance Management (PM), Facility and Safety Management (FS), and Claims and Billing Compliance (CB).

Prior to applying for accreditation, organizations should read and review the appropriate accreditation standards manual and evaluate organizational compliance with the standards. It is the responsibility of the applicant organization to be in compliance with the standards prior to applying for accreditation.
Applicant organizations must apply for ABC accreditation for all of the services it provides. This requirement extends only to those services for which ABC offers accreditation.Applications for accreditation can be downloaded in the 'Accreditation' box in the above right hand corner of this page. Upon completion of the application please mail to: PO Box 34862, Alexandria, VA 22334-0862. Please note overnight services such as UPS and FedEx do not deliver to PO Boxes.
Affordable accreditation is important for business owners and ABC's program is designed to be cost effective. As a not-for-profit organization, we strive to keep our costs contained and operate as efficiently as possible. This allows ABC to keep application and renewal fees low, especially when compared with other accrediting organizations.
