ABC is responding in two ways … first you can count us as a committed member of your coaching staff. Second, you can count on ABC to help strengthen all the positions on your O&P team. Let’s take Orthotic Fitters as an example. ABC’s credential sets a high benchmark – 3,800 hours or the equivalent of experience. Then we require continuing education credits to maintain their credential, a norm in health care professions. These educational activities help Orthotic Fitters maintain, develop, and increase their knowledge, skills, and professional relationships.
We also hold Orthotic and Mastectomy Fitters to the Canons of Ethical Conduct (ABC's code of professional ethics) which in turn guides their moral and professional conduct on the job. A professional bound to the Canons of Ethics will place your business in a positive light to your patients and your community.
ABC doesn’t stop there, as we offer a newsletter, e-ProfessionalFitter, which provides Fitters with a news and information source to stay in touch with and engaged in their chosen profession and resources on the web including continuing education opportunities.
Are we on track? According to a survey of registered fitters conducted by ABC this winter, yes. We were lauded for our program as it validates experience and competency, and demonstrates professional excellence to patients and peers.
And of course, the numbers validate that – more than 1,500 Orthotic and Mastectomy Fitters are now credentialed through ABC.
