The American Board for Certification would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Sidney Fishman, PhD.
An advocate for education and a lifelong friend to the O&P community, Dr. Fishman held considerable influence on the development of contemporary O&P education as the director of NYU’s Prosthetic and Orthotic Program. Furthermore, Dr. Fishman was extremely important to the creation and formation of a formalized accreditation process in the 1970’s.
As a professor, Dr. Fishman's legacy is practiced every day through the quality patient care of today's orthotists and prosthetists, and his efforts to raise the bar for O&P education will continue to impact future generations of practitioners and patients.
For these contributions, and for the lifetime commitment of Dr. Fishman, our profession is truly thankful.
