The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics, Inc., announced today that Michael J. Allen, CPO, FAAOP of Midland, TX has assumed the organization’s leading role as the new President of the Board of Directors.
Allen, 54, takes over for Stephen B. Fletcher, CPO of Gainesville, FL, as part of ABC’s regular leadership rotation. ABC Presidents serve a one year term as head of the organization and Allen’s ascent follows 10 years of service to the Board and nearly 30 years of O&P experience.
The ABC Board is composed of 10 members, including two public members who function as consumer advocates. Joining the Board for 2008 is Todd Anderson, CP, FAAOP of Minneapolis, MN. Anderson is one of Otto Bock’s leading prosthetists and has served as an examiner for ABC’s prosthetic exams for years.
While Fletcher will continue to serve on the ABC Board as Immediate Past President, two long-time ABC Board Members, Frank Friddle, CO, FAAOP and Jeff Yakovich, CO, are stepping down as their terms expire. Friddle and Yakovich have served as Presidents of ABC in 2004 and 2006, respectively, and their expertise and leadership have been invaluable to ABC’s growth and continued success as a credentialing organization.
