ALEXANDRIA, VA— The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics, Inc. (ABC) announces that the June 4-5 and 11-12, 2010 Clinical Patient Management Examinations will be held at St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Fla. The CPM exams have historically been held at the Northwestern University Prosthetic Orthotic Center in Chicago. Moving the CPM exams to St. Petersburg is necessary due to the relocation of Northwestern’s facility to a new site, scheduled for mid-2010.
The Clinical Patient Management examinations are the in-person patient care assessment portion of the practitioner exams and as such needs access to labs, patient care areas and classroom space. Northwestern University’s generous partnership with ABC throughout the years has enabled candidates to have an ideal facility structure as well as a centralized location.
St. Petersburg College’s J.E. Hanger Orthotics & Prosthetics complex is a new, state-of-the-art facility that will provide an ideal environment for the CPM exam. Direct flights to Tampa are available from most major cities and the Tampa/St. Pete area is conveniently located for those residing in the southeastern region.
“We have been extremely fortunate to have enjoyed such a long and rich relationship with Northwestern University and will miss the cooperation and support offered by everyone involved in the P&O program there,” says Catherine Carter, ABC Executive Director. Carter goes on to add, “ABC wishes the entire staff the best with the impending move to their new location and we are very anxious to see their new facility. The generous cooperation of St. Petersburg College in accommodating us for the June 2010 CPM exams allows us to have no disruption in the administration of the exam.”
The application deadline for the June 4-5, 2010 exams is March 1, 2010. Applications and a copy of the ABC Practitioner Candidate Guide and Book of Rules are available at www.abcop.org.
